Is tree pruning possible during winter time? A lot of people are thinking if pruning during the cold months is possible or if it is safe for trees to be pruned during that time. We want you to know that pruning in winter is really good for trees and that you don’t have to worry about. However, you still need to consult with your local arborist services North Ipswich regarding the condition of your trees.

Here is some type of work you can give your trees during winter:

Removals. Removals during winter can be done especially for trees that are dying from a disease like Emerald Ash Borer. If you are thinking of removing a tree in your yard, better do it during winter as this can be done safely and without being a hazard.

Pruning. Most trees can also take advantage of light pruning during the dormant season. Pruning during the dormant season is also advantageous to the trees help as they can become more energetic when spring comes.

However, make sure to prune the trees after the coldest days have passed and when it is beginning to warm up again. This is important because if you cut the branches at the wrong time, the new cuts can easily dry quickly.

Also, if the tree has shown any signs of disease or stress better put the pruning off for winter and may be better to do it during the fall. The same goes if the tree has not to shine any vigorous growth. Ask your arborist if the timing is right and if possible only do minimal pruning.
